Okay,
I am interested in a new 2008 Chevy Tahoe LTZ 2WD. It is fully loaded (Navigation, DVD, the works)

The vehicle price is $50,000 but they are having a Red tag sale saying I pay only $40,000. Although this sounds pretty good...I just think it could go lower.
My question is: I hate buyers remorse....so, how much LOWER can I haggle??
What is the dirt cheapest I could offer and they'd go for it?
Does anyone know if this redtag sale is their bottom line?
People with car sales experience...Please help!!
10 points to best answer!!! :)

Thanks a bunch!
Mdcbert, I am not a sucker nor a fool. I need a bigger car for my expanding family and I'd rather drive a bitchen gas guzzler than a mini van.
The money I pay for in gas really isn't an issue, and actually wasn't even my question. But thanks for your useless answer.

you can do better. The Tahoes are not selling. Shop around using search engines like Cars.com, etc. You should be able to get one for about 32k-35k. Theyre really soft on the market right now

10,000 off is pretty good. The car dealers are trying to dump thousands of unwanted SUV`s to any sucker that is foolish enough to buy one now.

I guess you think gas prices are going to stay low?

This really depends on where you live. The average buyer in a suburb/city area will take the 'deal' without a second guess. If you live down south like me, there is a steady supply of buyers for these vehicles.

For example, in Texas you can't get a dealer to come down off a price for almost any vehicle with an engine above 6 liters. The demand is still there for those trucks. I know the suburban is standard with a 5.3, but this is just an example. If it has the smaller engine, you will have a better chance at offering a lower price. Find a dealer in the area offering a very close or similar price for one with a bigger engine - use this print-off for your bargaining purposes if you can.

Knowing this, be smart about it. You know if you live in a big city the deal will be gone soon by demand. If you live in the country you can afford to ask lower, like 35,000. This is why I say it depends. Also, if you spread 5 grand out for 4 years of financing, it really isn't that much extra per month (and if it is, this vehicle shouldn't be purchased).
