My mom owns(ed) a 2005 chevy trailblazer. She has had the vehicle for roughly 3 years. In the 3 year time frame she has gotten into multiple accidents, the first- hitting a deer, the second- hitting a moose, the third- hitting a snow bank, and the fourth- hitting a telephone pole (which finally deemed the vehicle totaled.) In none of these accidents, however, did the airbag go off. I'm wondering if there is any sort of legal action that can be taken... It just doesn't seem right that after FOUR accidents the airbag still didn't go off... Thankfully she came out without any serious injuries, but I know it could have been a lot worse. Any ideas about this airbag defect? Anyone else had similar problems?

very rarely are these defective everytime you turn ignition air bag system does a self check that is why your air bag will flash 7 times

You may want to research and find out if there are any recalls on this model. This is very possible. If bought used even though she bought it the year it came out it is possible that the original owner was in an accident and the air bag was not replaced at all or replaced correctly. Maybe try carfax.com and check the history if your mom did by it used. You'd be suprised what a body shop can do.

The airbag(s) have a white sensor on located on the frame typically on the front and rear bumper frame.
1) Hitting dear and moose - The sensor is on the bumper, so most likely the legs of the animals were the only thing that hit the bumper. Hence, why the sensor did not activate..
2) Snow bank - There is very little force when this happens until your mother hit something solid. Meaning, airbags rarely go off simply because of a snow bank.
3) Telephone poll - It should have deployed in this case only if she hit it dead on. If she grazed it, however, most likely it would not deploy.
Good Luck and I Hope this Helps...
