What is the new technoogy of the chevy volt, also, how is this vehicle good for the environment?

The Chevy Volt is an all electric powered vehicle but it dose have a small gas engine that will come on automatically to recharge the batteries. It also has plug in capabilities to recharge the batteries. Like all plug ins you are displacing the pollution by drawing power from the grid to charge the car rather than using an on board power plant. The environmental impact depends on the generation source used to charge the batteries. Power plants that use renewable sources such as hydro will have less impact than say a coal burring power plant. The Volt though will have some pollution generated from it's on board gas engine. But if you drive 40 mile or less the on board engine should not be needed. See links for more details.
