...vehicle that? goes 40 miles before it begins to use gas. President Obama literally told Chevy to forget it. Obama also told GM to cut back on their profit making trucks.
How is this supposed to help the automaker when their profitable vehicles and their alternative-energy vehicles are stopped for political reasons by a man who has never run a business before?

because obama knows the truth about chevy. he knows that they're the most worthless pieces of **** that an american auto company has ever produced. granted i hate obama but he's smart in that aspect he wants americans to save money on auto repairs that's why he told chevy to stop making those vehicles. which ultimately leads to chevy going belly up meaning people will be forced into buying vehicles they don't like at first but after they start driving dodges and fords they'll realize that dodge and ford were always better than chevy and they always will be better than chevy. simple as that!

Because they're 20-30 years too late in this.
Back in the 80s, Honda had a CRX which could get 50+ mpg city, 65+ highway.
It's taken the US automakers two decades to even come close.
That's not progressive thinking, that's being lazy and counting on US citizens to buy American.
Did you happen to read the actual statistics about the Chevy Volt? About how astronomically expensive it is to have any repairs or replacements done to parts? Nevermind that most service stations are not permitted to work on hybrids. Which means, dealership repairs only.
100% nullifies any amount of money saved in gas, the minute something breaks on it.
If GM was truly trying to be competitive, this should have been introduced years ago. This is a last ditch offer to try to satisfy a generally displeased customer base. And it's failed.
